CHURCHES/RELIGIONS
Mostly Protestant, including Anglican, Baptist, Brethren, Church of God, Jehovah’s Witness, Methodist, Moravian, Pentecostal, Seventh-day Adventist and United Church. Roman Catholic and some other spiritual faiths also represented.

 

CURRENCY AND CREDIT CARDS
The local currency is the Jamaican dollar (J$ or JMD). Paper money runs in denominations of J$50, J$100, J$500 and J$1000 J$5000 bills, and coins in 1¢, 10¢, 25¢, J$1, J$5, J$10 and J$20 pieces. All notes, except J$1000, include a symbol to aid the visually impaired. US dollars are widely accepted, but confirm in advance whether the item is priced in US or Jamaican dollars. Most large shops, hotels and restaurants accept major credit cards and traveller’s cheques. Many resorts accept Discover and Diners Club.

To ensure hassle-free purchases during your trip, you may want to contact your credit card company and let them know you will be travelling abroad.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
A valid passport is required. All visitors must also have an onward or return ticket and sufficient funds for the duration of their stay.
